基督徒是“因信称义”的人，但我们的信心并不完全，特别当环境不顺，或面对的人、事、物似乎难以理喻的时候，我们常常心生疑惑。感恩神满有怜悯和恩典，当我们在疑惑中呼求，祂就必拯救，帮助我们在“信”上站立得稳。
上次节目中我们提到，在西罗马帝国不断衰落瓦解的过程中，中古前期的西方拉丁教会越来越多参与政治运作，逐渐成为一个高度集权的教会。今天，我们要看一看那个时期东方希腊教会的情况。
当时拜占庭帝国政治相对稳定，东方教会发展一直也比较稳定；但就在相对安定的社会环境当中，东方教会却爆发了一场严重的争论，导致教会元气大伤。那就是“图像之争”。
所谓“图像”，指的是一些与基督信仰有关的图案、雕塑或其它物品，如十字架，耶稣基督的画像，某一位圣徒的雕塑，或是一个具有纪念意义的杯子、盘子等等。
